PROJECT N-SERVE
Rainbow's latest project was created for Bader Rutter and Dow AgroSciences. The CD-ROM was made to help educate dealers and farms on the benefits and proper use of N-Serve, a agricultural nitrogen stabilizer product. The projects incorporated tabs and pull down menus for easy navigation. Still images along with sliding text bullet points were used to emphasis key points of interest during the presentation. Macromedia Director was used for it's animation capabilities and Adobe Acrobat for the abundant text content.
Agrononomics tells
the brief history of N-Serve and how it evolved with its discovery
in the early 50's to the present day. This section also explains,
through computer animation, how nitrogen loss occurs and how N-Serve
works to keep nitrogen in the soil longer so the corn plant can use
it to boost grain protein and corn yields. The user can even
calculate the benefits by simply filling out the worksheet
incorporated in the CD-ROM.
The Equipment section includes three detailed guides developed by Dow AgroSciences. The user can easily navigate throughout the guides as well as print them out. This section includes video testimonials on the use of GPS (Global Positioning System) for the precise distribution of chemicals on farm acreage and dispersing chemicals where they are needed most.
Application covers
the various methods of mixing N-Serve and prescribes the use of
either anhydrous ammonia, liquid fertilizer or liquid manure. It
explains the best time of the year, method and conditions of
application. Graphic charts are utilized to show the recommend rates
for each type of crop.Water Management discusses the effects of nitrates washing out of the root zone into groundwater, lakes and reservoirs and how excessive levels of nitrate in drinking water pose health threats. Here animation was used to show how chemical bonding occurs during the leaching process.
Research Results provides the complete text research studies of N-Serve and is broken down by a state or by subject. Again, the user can print any part of the research data gathered.
Final Results
When the CD-ROM was delivered to Bader Rutter and Dow AgroSciences executives they where pleased with the final results and stated "it was just excellent." They futher clarified by saying, "that the CD-ROM was well organized, easy-to-navigate and visually appealing."
